Dr. John Agresto, the provost of the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani, held a press conference announcing the opening of a new major, engineering major. Dr. Agresto told Student Voice that they have not decided yet whether it will be Petroleum or Mechanical engineering.
The students who have studied their major at AUI-S for two years will not have the chance to study this major. The freshman students have the best chance to apply for the engineering major. This means that AUI-S students can change their major to engineering if they had not studies at AUI-S for more than 3 semesters.
This major will start in the next spring semester when the university moves to the new campus.
Dr. Agresto also said the Iraqi and Kurdish businessmen have helped the university in this regard.
